Amazing Sense of Calm

We all went down together,
we stood there on the shore, and watched the sunrise.
Then everyone embraced and we went our separate ways
under the good sky.
And the feeling that swept over on that morning in October
was the feeling that something was about to change.
It was as if this had all been arranged.
It seems like dreams might not be dreams at all, but
merely glimpses of the pictures that we drew when we were small.
Low tides…high tides…
Bring your sons and daughters to the water’s edge and help them to recall
the amazing sense of calm.
It was some years later when my mind began to fog
and I couldn’t see their faces anymore.
Then someone touched my hand and brought me back again
to where everyone had gathered on the shore.
And the thing that I remember on that cold day in November
was my sense of self was stronger than before.
With each breath we are reborn.
It seems like dreams might not be dreams at all, but
